The rest of last week involved our bodies being RUINED by Mona McCarthy with her brutal abs routine, carrying one another around the room, falling and flying and contact impro. But we loved her despite the pain we endured the following day (and the day after) and have asked her to come back and work on the show with us. Thursday, David Edmunds paid us a visit all the way from Dep Arts in Leeds (check them out here) AND it was his Birthday. Poor man having to spend it with us...though we had pirate cake and put the world to rights so it was pretty brilliant in the end...well, it was for us at least!
Friday was a day of pitching. We pitched to the NS company and thank goodness they loved it! I don't want to spoil it as we're still in the beginning stages...but let's just say it is going to beautiful. We'll keep you updated as we go along. Friday afternoon we trotted down to LIVE for "Meet the Programmers", thank you to Annabel at ARC Stockton and Live Theatre for hosting the event. If you haven't heard of "Meet the Programmers" it's an event which brings all the venues in the North East together and local artists and companies can pitch their ideas to the programmers. It was pretty much like speed dating...there is a bell and a time limit so be sure to sell yourself well. It was a great learning curve for us and we met LOADS of lovely people, Amy Golding of Theatre Auracaria, the folks from Alphabetti Spaghetti Theatre, Rachel and Hannah from FRESH, the brilliant November Club and the lovely Write on Tap as well as familiar faces Kate Craddock and Caroline Pearce. The best news though, was having a chat with the hilarious Helen Green from Arts Centre Washington and we've secured a slot at their scratch night in Feb. We're so excited to spread the NORTH love around.
Now before I go...I thought you might want to meet our faces, then again, you may not. I do understand...they can be quite a sight sometimes. But I suppose most of em' scrub up well.
This is Alex. She loves animals, she wanted to be a Vet but decided it would be too upsetting so became an Actor instead (I know...makes total sense.) She also works in ASDA sometimes and counts money. She loves to dip snickers into jars of Nutella. For realz.
That would be George. The man with the maleable face. George can draw moons with chalk on the floor like a boss. His farts can clear rooms and he never wears enough warm clothes. But he looks the coolest out of all of us. Winner winner chicken dinner.
Mariaaaaa. She's from Skelton. Some village somewhere near Saltburn (wherever that is). It's pretty far from the toon so she lives with me, lucky girl! She loves pugs and owls and recently became the 5th member of Blue for a day before she started NORTH. All rise.
And this adorable face is Meghan (don't forget the "h"!) We went to school together back in the day. Meghan is known to become very impassioned after playing a game of "squares" (an addictive, competitive ball game) which resulted in her screaming at NS staff "work harder!"
This cheeky wee mug is Mr Michael Blair. He has the best chuckle and looks mighty fine in a three piece suit. He feared "getting his arse out" in a movement class but it turned out he was more flexible than Wayne Sleep.
The Romantic lead of the group. Mundane Stan. Or seedy Stan. He is in fact neither of those things but we tell him so anyway coz we're nice like that. Stan is from Darlo. I think that means Darlington. He wears lovely jumpers and hipster glasses.
And hello to you, dear reader. That face belongs to me, Alice. The token ginger of the group. The founder of "awkward catch" (i.e. I can't catch).
